DEDICATION

Hershey Bar, our first-ever pony, a fat little Shetland, was purchased for my two youngest daughters in 1990.  “Piggy’s” outwardly prickly personality, as sturdy and determined as his round, little build, disguised the most generous, most loving, most loyal of natures.  He brought us delight and immeasurable happiness.

FOUNDATION

Seascape Farm, now Seascape Welsh, Inc., was begun in 1996 as a stud for Welsh Section B ponies and was expanded in 2000 to include Section D Welsh cobs and Welsh part breds.

Our program was initiated with the purchase of the entire herd of Section B ponies from nationally known Welsh breeder, the late Mrs. W. A. ("Polly") Swinerton, in the dispersal sale of her Mary’s Farm.  Included were two beautiful imported ponies, *LLANARTH SIGNPOST and *LLANARTH RIPPLE, both sired by TWYFORD SIGNAL, a prolific and prepotent Section B stallion who stood at the Llanarth Stud in the U.K. for many years.  Owned by Len and Ann Bigley, the Llanarth Stud is recognized internationally for their Welsh ponies and cobs, which exemplify the excellence of type, temperament, versatility and athletic ability for which the Welsh breed is so widely respected.

Also in the herd was a lovely *SLEIGHT OF HAND daughter, GAYFIELDS PEARL’S A SINGER, from Gail Thomson's respected and very successful Gayfields Stud in Arkansas, U.S.A., as well as a number of quality youngstock, including, among them, MARY’S LUNA

and MARY’S MINI PEARL.

SCOPE

Our line-up at Seascape Welsh, Inc. has expanded, over time, to include a stellar array of  Welsh ponies and cobs.  Our breeding herd is outstanding for its exceptional breadth and depth of quality, as has been noted by WPCS historian, Dr. Wynne Davies, MBE:

“...Linda Davies(sic) of California…is building up a formidable American stud”(“Horse and Hound” magazine, 16 November 2000).

SEASCAPE WELSH PONIES, WELSH COBS & WELSH PART BREDS

ARE DESCENDANTS OF CHAMPIONS,

MANY ARE CHAMPIONS IN THEIR OWN RIGHT,

AND THEIR PROGENY ARE CHAMPION QUALITY.

In addition to their excellence of type, Seascape Welsh ponies, Welsh cobs and Welsh part breds exhibit exceptional intelligence and sweetness of temperament, coupled with the unrivalled beauty of conformation and movement to be found in the best of Welsh.  Our objective is to produce ponies/cobs/part breds with superior athletic ability, versatility and rideability, characteristics of the Welsh breed which enable them to excel in any discipline.

Optimal matching of pony/horse and rider is of primary importance to us here at Seascape Welsh, Inc., and we do our best to assure a good match.

THE FARM

Headquartered in Woodside, California, for four years, Seascape Welsh operations moved in November, 2000, to a beautiful  property in northern Monterey County.  Well-located, with an ideal climate, our facility  includes a six-stall barn, an eight-stall mare motel/breezeway barn,  a large hay/storage barn, a 200’ x 100’ arena, a 60’ round pen, numerous runs/corrals with shelters, and several large open pastures.

Linda Davis, founder of Seascape Welsh, Inc., grew up in Hawaii and began riding at a very young age.  Linda received several years of training in the English riding style as a child and again in high school and college, but her best loved and most treasured experiences were the several weeks spent each year for fifteen years on a 60,000-acre working ranch on the Big Island of Hawaii, driving and rounding up cattle with the paniolos, the Hawaiian cowboys, who rode, roped, and wrangled the cattle in the tradition of the Mexican vaqueros.

Anna Baker, Linda’s daughter, starts our ponies/horses under saddle.  Anna began her riding career at age 7 in the Junior Riders summer programs in Woodside, joined the Woodside Pony Club at age 12 on a leased Section A pony, and qualified for her C-1 rating before leaving Pony Club at age 16 to pursue her interest in dressage and to train her own horse, a five year old Welsh Cob-TB cross.  Anna is a naturally talented rider and has trained under Nina Wiger, Jeff Moore, and Ray Berta.  Anna works with our ponies/horses to establish a quiet but responsive way of going, suited for any discipline.

Happy!
